Regional Media Officer Vacancy 2012 in KL

A diplomatic mission in Kuala Lumpur is now offering a highly-rewarding and fulfilling employment opportunity with an attractive salary for the position of: REGIONAL MEDIA OFFICER

Nature and Scope of Work:
- Manage the collection of regional media reporting; write timely analytic products on political, economic, and security issues based on media sources; analyze media to match official requirements and available sources; task contractors and provide feedback.
- Promptly and accurately translate Chinese and Malay from audio, print and Internet sources into English.
- Use Internet to search, browse, extract, and hyperlink embed text, graphics, maps, video and audio files into products.

Required Qualifications:
- University degree, preferably at postgraduate level, in Political Science, Economics, History, Journalism or a foreign language.
- Must be able to speak, read and write fluent English, Chinese and Malay. Ability to translate written and spoken Chinese and Malay into English is essential.
- Must have abiding interest in domestic and regional current affairs, and strong knowledge of region’s history, politics, security affairs, economics and culture.
- Familiarity with existing and Internet technologies. Basic organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with short deadlines; demonstrated interpersonal and team skills are required.

Starting salary is negotiable and according to experience. The successful candidate will receive a two month’s bonus on top of the annual salary. Package includes overseas travel opportunities and health insurance.
